I know it’s only January. The weather is dreary and cold, school delays and closings are wreaking havoc on your schedule, and the jolly spirit of the holidays seems far off. You’re in survival mode; the last thing you are thinking about is the warmth of summer. However, there are many reasons that if you don’t start thinking about summer camp for the kids NOW, you will likely be left out in the cold!
With benefits in choice and price, January has become the universally-agreed-upon time of year among parents to begin the Summer Camp search.
Many parents don’t realize that most summer camps begin registration in the winter. This can be an issue for a lot of parents, as many of us are still just trying to recoup from the holidays and survive all of the extra days the kids are home due to snow days.
However, as with everything, there are many parents who are completely on top of it. As the benefits of a structured summer camp program on the growth and development of children become clearer, the search for summer options is only becoming more competitive. Most camps have a limited number of spaces each summer, which creates a situation where the earlier you register, the better your choices will be.
In addition to choices, there is the issue of price. Many camps require tuition to be paid in full by a certain date. This can cause a headache for last-minute registrations who find themselves with a lot to pay in limited time. Earlier registration gives parents the flexibility to slowly chip away with payments that are smaller and more manageable. And while some camps still offer a weekly-payment option during the summer to help parents, putting camp on your radar early means more time to budget your summer. Doing this can help eliminate stress when summer’s higher energy costs and the travel season start affecting your wallet.
