Lesley Kroll, Camp Director
Camp Hot Spots is thrilled to welcome Miss Lesley as our brand-new Camp Director! This will be Miss Lesley’s 22nd summer at a camp (as a camper, counselor, and director), and is excited to join the Hot Spots Team. Miss Lesley graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a degree in Communications and has been a Camp Director for the past 5 years. She received the American Camping Association’s Excellence in Service award in 2019 and is certified in CPR/First Aide and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. When she is not at Camp, Miss Lesley enjoys hiking, gardening, and cooking. She lives with her two rescue cats and a rescue dog in Baltimore. Miss Lesley is passionate about the impact of outdoor education on children and strives to prevent summer learning loss through active and engaging camp programs. She also prioritizes her team of specialists and counselors to provide tools that support future success. She is looking forward to an amazing 2021 Camp Season and can’t wait to meet all the Hot Spots Campers and Parents!
Jai Coleman, Assistant Camp Director
This is Ms. Jai’s second year at Camp HotSpots! Most of you already know her as the former Program Director of Carrolltowne Elementary School, camp counselor during camp 2020, and the biggest personality you have seen on this side of the Mason Dixon Line. She is a Philadelphia native, born and raised, and moved to Maryland in 2017. Before Ms. Jai moved to Maryland, she graduated from the nation’s first Historical Black College University, Cheyney University, with a degree in Criminal Justice. After she moved to Maryland, she started as the Assistant Director for HotSpots of Carrolltowne Elementary and grew into the role of Program Director for the program as well as became one of the Curriculum Coaches for HotSpots Extended Care. During her time at HotSpots, she helped with recruitment, curriculum development, leadership, and of course Camp HotSpots. After finishing her Master of Education degree, Ms. Jai was able to start her new career as a Special Education Middle School Math Teacher for Baltimore City Public Schools. Although Ms. Jai is no longer with HotSpots year-round, she looks forward to returning to Camp HotSpots every summer for fun, sun, and reconnecting with her HotSpots Families.
